History
The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) Training College
The NHMP Training College is a premier institution dedicated to preparing professional and disciplined motorway police officers. NHMP began its training journey in 1997 at Police Training College Sihala with support from the National Police Academy and British trainers, focusing on modern traffic management, accident response, and enforcement skills.
To meet growing training needs, a training camp was established in 1998 at NHMP Lines Headquarters Islamabad and later moved to Chakri in 1999, where 213 officers completed orientation courses and 285 officers completed refresher courses between 1999 and 2002. In May 2002, the training facility was shifted to Sheikhupura and formally recognized as the NHMP Training Center on 10 August 2004.
A major advancement came on 8 September 2011, when the Center was upgraded to a full NHMP Training College, enabling the introduction of advanced, promotional, commando, drill, and capacity-building courses. Since then, the College has expanded its services to train officers from ICT Police, AJ&K Police, FIA, Ring Road Police, KPK Police, Balochistan Police, and other agencies.
Today, the NHMP Training College — established in its current form since 2011 — continues to train NHMP personnel as well as public and private sector participants, contributing significantly to national road safety and professional driver development.
